PromptDex is designed with a local-first approach: most of your data never leaves your device.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local and is not sent to our servers:

• AI provider API keys that you enter;
• Prompt history, private libraries, folders, variables, and context snippets;
• Personal context profiles and all extension settings.

2. Data We Process

The only data sent to our servers during activation is your license key, which is used to verify the validity of your purchase.

We do not send your prompt content, prompt history, or data from the web pages you visit to our servers.

3. Bring Your Own Key & Third-Party AI Providers

When you optimize or process text using PromptDex, your prompts are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you choose, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and other supported providers, using your own API key.

The processing of your data by those providers is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.

PromptDex does not act as an intermediary for this processing and does not store the data sent to those AI providers.

4. Web Page Access

PromptDex only reads text from a web page when you explicitly trigger an action, such as selecting text and using an action button, clicking the extension icon, or using the browser’s right-click menu.

The extension does not perform background reading or automatically collect data from websites.

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

PromptDex does not:

• Track your browsing activity;
• Sell your data;
• Use your data for advertising;
• Build user profiles based on your prompt content.

6. Cookies

Our website and landing pages may use minimal cookies for basic functionality and simple analytics.

The PromptDex browser extension itself does not use third-party cookies for tracking.

7. Security

Because sensitive information, such as your API keys, is stored locally on your device, its security also depends on the security of your device and browser.

You are responsible for keeping your API keys and license keys confidential and secure.

8. Your Rights and Data Removal

You can delete your locally stored PromptDex data at any time by clearing the extension’s stored data or uninstalling the extension from your browser.

Because the data is stored locally, removing the extension data or uninstalling the extension removes the locally stored data from your device.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Any changes will be posted on this page together with the date of the latest update.
